Welcome to Maine. Known for their shores and lighthouses, their trees and their lobster. Maine has tons to offer on any given day. Kittery is no exception. The Hiker decided to stop in Kittery and is looking for someone to show him around.
Take I-95N into the state of Maine and pull into the first Rest Area. Drive by the Visitor Center. Take the first right following sign for Rt-1. Don't go onto Rt-1, but instead curve right again, following sign for Car Parking. Pass by the East entrance to the Visitor Center and park in the last spot on the right. There is a rock wall separating the parking area from the picnic grove. Go to the end of the rock wall, step to the other side, and take 2 steps back along the wall toward your car. On the top of the stone wall is a long, narrow rock laying slanted, across the top. Lift the smallish rock that is leaning against the left of this rock to find the NH Hiker Letterbox.
