NH Hiker Visits Massachusetts

-PLEASE READ THE RULES BEFORE HEADING OUT-

The NH Hiker is taking a break in Bellingham, MA. To get to him, you need to find Pulaski Blvd., which is easy from 495 in Massachusetts -- simply take Exit 16 towards Bellingham. Pulaski is also a straight shot coming from Cumberland or Woonsocket, RI. If you are coming from Rte. 495, you will pass Lake Street, and slow down to look for the green conservation area sign. If you come to a fenced area for National Grid you've gone just a tad too far. If you're coming from Rhode Island, after you pass Centre St. on your left, look for that fenced area on the right -- shortly after that is the conservation area parking. Pull in and park.

Head straight through the boulders and down the trail. At the T, go right, and then there's an immediate Y; go left here. At your next Y go Right. You will pass through some thick pines on either side of you,and head up hill, down hill, and up hill again. When you see a choice on your left, take it. Travel along the ridge and ignore that next trail to your right and the little rocky area to the left. Staying on the main trail, it starts down hill. When the trail takes a sharp turn to the right: STOP. Look at 10:00 -- See the large pine? Walk 13 paces to the pine and look in the stump just in front of that pine. Taking his R & R here you will find the NH Hiker! To return you can retrace your steps. Or, if you're daring, you can follow the path where the box is back to the main intersection where you turned. Instead of turning right to retrace your steps, turn left. This will bring you out to the road near the fenced area used by National Grid. You can walk a short distance along the road -- or you can cut down the small path behind the fencing and work your way back to the car, but there are several twists and turns and you must be vigilant or you'll walk right past the path where your car is!!

NOTE: This area is used a lot by bikers, although we didn't see any while planting. Since it's not widely used, there is virtually no chance the box you place here will go missing unless a biker is watching you! Also, there's a lake in the other direction where people swim for free -- feel free to take a dip while you're in town! Except in July and half of August in the a.m. because there are swimming lessons going on! We hope you had fun looking for the NH Hiker, and we'll be watching!
